Signs Your Account May Be Compromised

Use this guide if you suspect someone else accessed your account or changed settings without your approval.

Treat this as urgent
Unexpected sign-ins, mailbox changes, MFA prompts, or sent messages you did not create may indicate compromise.

Common warning signs

  • Password no longer works
  • Unexpected MFA prompts
  • Mailbox rules or forwarding changes you did not create
  • Sent messages you do not recognize
  • Security alerts for unusual sign-in activity

Immediate actions

  1. Change the password from a trusted device.
  2. Deny unexpected MFA requests.
  3. Create a ticket immediately.
  4. Do not delete suspicious emails or evidence unless instructed.
