When to Create a Ticket During an Outage

Sometimes the best next step is to monitor the status page. Other times you should still create a ticket so OpenTech can confirm your scope and impact.

A ticket is still useful in some outages
If your issue is unique, more severe, or not reflected in the current status notice, a ticket helps OpenTech validate impact.

You may not need a ticket if

  • The status page clearly lists the exact affected service
  • Your symptoms match the posted incident
  • You only need awareness and updates

Create a ticket if

  • Your issue is not listed on the status page
  • Your impact appears worse than the posted notice
  • The issue affects a different location, user group, or system than expected
  • You need business-impact documentation or direct follow-up
