Use this guide when Microsoft 365 says your account is locked, blocked, or needs administrator review.

Common signs
You may see repeated password prompts, sign-in blocks, or messages that your account needs to be unlocked.

Try these first

  • Confirm you are signing in with the correct work email address.
  • Try a private browser window.
  • Reset your password if you suspect the current one is incorrect.
  • Check whether MFA approval is reaching your device.

When to contact support

If the account remains blocked after a password reset attempt, the issue may require administrator review, Conditional Access review, or security validation.
